Lockland Local Schools is thrilled to welcome Ryan Erkins as the new Head Football Coach and Physical Education & Health Teacher at Lockland High School! Coach Erkins brings a wealth of experience, a passion for mentoring student-athletes, and a commitment to building a strong and competitive football program.
A Cincinnati native, Erkins is a 2007 graduate of Walnut Hills High School, where he developed his love for the game as a student-athlete. He continued his education at Mount Saint Joseph University before earning a Master of Science in Coaching Education from Ohio University.
With over a decade of coaching experience, Erkins has worked with student-athletes at various levels. His coaching journey began at St. Antoninus School, where he coached junior high football for three years. He then moved to the varsity level, serving as the Quarterbacks Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator at Western Hills High School. Most recently, he played a key role in the Finneytown High School football program, where he was promoted to Assistant Head Coach in his final season.
Beyond football, Erkins has extensive experience in behavioral health, working with youth at Best Point (formerly The Children’s Home of Cincinnati) and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Partial Program in Mason. His background in youth development and mentorship shapes his coaching philosophy—one that emphasizes teamwork, character, and personal growth both on and off the field.
“I am honored to join the Lockland community and lead the Panthers’ football program,” said Erkins. “Lockland is full of amazing students with incredible potential, and I’m excited to help them grow as athletes and individuals.”
Lockland Schools Athletic Director/Associate Principal Jon Payne expressed his enthusiasm for the new hire, saying: "Coach Erkins’ passion and dedication to student-athlete development make him a perfect fit for Lockland. We’re excited to see the impact he will have on our football program and the entire school community.”
